Lorna Jane #ShareSomethingInspiring Challenge - 5 Week Recap

Good evening ladies! I'm taking a moment out of my day to recap my 5th week and total recap in the FitApproach/Lorna Jane #ShareSomethingInspiring Twitter Challenge!

You can check out my first four recaps here:
first week's recap
second week's recap
third week's recap
fourth week's recap

The #ShareSomethingInspiring Twitter challenge is being lead by my fellow sisters from FitApproach, aka #SweatPink Ambassadors with Lorna Jane Active. The month long challenge from May 22nd to June 21st encouraged women to speak out and inspire on another to spread kindness and motivation as we maintain a fit lifestyle.

For 5 weeks, Fit Apporach released daily challenges to encourage fit ladies to inspire each other via social media (Twitter and Instagram). At the end of the challenge, the Lorna Jane team will give two inspiring ladies a $500 Lorna Jane gift card.

Gift card aside, the challenge has been really rewarding. I'm sad to see it come to an end. I've been scouring the #sharesomethinginspiring hashtag and love all of the amazing quotes and inspirational posters. It's definitely something I plan on keeping up with...even after the challenge.

To celebrate the closure of a great challenge, here is my 5 week recap of inspiration:

May 22 - #ShareSomethingInspiring that Motivates You

May 24 - #ShareSomethingInspiring About Your Best Friend

May 25 - #ShareSomethingInspiring That Makes You Smile

May 26 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about a blogger/online buddy who inspires you:

Loove Meaghan's Blog, "DC Fit Crasher." Had some spelling snafus.....#sharesomethinginspiring instead of "say" whoops. (Long night!) Either way, you should check out her blog!

May 27 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about a personal accomplishment:

So grateful to have my mom and grandmother with me this past week to help me move! I wouldn't have been able to get it done without them!

(I love T Rex by the way)

June 2 - #ShareSomethingInspiring - anything that inspires you!

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."

June 3 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about your work!

"Ask not what your country can do to you; ask what you can do for your country."

June 4 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about dreaming big!

(I didn't get to post this day...but I thought this quote pretty amazing.)

"I sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double."

"You are my anchor. You are my happy. You are my best friend."

"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not."

LOVED the CNN.com article, "With health, not being perfect is ok."

"Over the last 20 years, I have attempted to lose that weight many times, always with the notion that this time I would be perfect. It was all or nothing. When I couldn't maintain perfection, I stopped trying. I felt bad about myself, which led to increased emotional eating and less exercise. It was a vicious cycle."

"Our assigned strength training is different than anything I have done before. Some exercises were almost impossible when I first started and remain challenging. I still do not do them with the perfect grace of people in the YouTube videos, and that is OK."

Love how these unlikely animals can be buddies....kind of make you think how we get along with others. If a lion and a gazelle can become friends, maybe I can make amends with my office nemesis?

June 11 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about a celebrity

oprah winfrey, quotes, sayings, people, friends, wise

This is the only post I missed this week, but I would have posted this quote about Oprah. I take this expression as not surrounding yourself with negative and toxic people. Surround yourself with supportive, loving people who are supportive and going to help enable your to meet your goals.

I definitely consider myself to be my own #1 motivator. While support from others is important, I'm the only one responsible for my own happiness. If I'm not happy, I need to look in the mirror...figure out what is causing me heartache and figure out a way to change it.

This was a hard challenge for me because I couldn't think of anything that made me cry....I actually was going to skip this challenge when I came across this photo the following day. There's something about this photo that makes me want to start blubber like a sap. I don't know if it is because she's disabled and can never fully dance or because shes still dancing despite her handicap. It is one of the sweetest photos I have seen.

I have constantly moved around over the last 10 years. With those moves I have learned that I'm always beginning a new chapter as I'm closing an old one.

I love this quote. My dad always reminds me to keep working hard. Hard work and discipline is rewarding, but you have to keep going to make it a lifestyle. It's not about what I used to have or could have had...its the lifestyle that I work for and the need to continuously seek self-improvement.

June 16 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about Lorna Jane Clarkson!

"The heights of great men reached and kept were not obtained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night."

June 17- #ShareSomethingInspiring from Pinterest

I loved this poster from SkinnyMom on pinterest! I always need to remind myself to drink more water! I didn't know it also helped with your metabolism!

June 18 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about someone who touched your life recently.

I intentionally posted this challenge a few days late. Some of my colleagues and I had the opportunity to attend the parade in honor of the recent Medal of Honor percipient, Corporal Kyle Carpenter. It was really inspiring to see someone so humble receive the military's highest honor for putting someone's life above his own. To throw your own body on a live grenade for someone else....and then say that you were "just doing my job" is incredibly humbling.

June 18 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about the future!

"If you're offered a seat on a rocket ship, don't ask what seat! Just get on."

Loove this quote. Exciting opportunities are far and few. Live in the moment, and don't hesitate to do something spontaneous. If someone offers the opportunity to try something exciting, don't ask questions....just hop on board!

June 20 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about new beginnings.

"Every day is a new beginning. Stay away from what might have been and look at what can be."

June 21 - #ShareSomethingInspiring about anything!

"There are seven days of the week and SOMEDAY isn't one of them."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whew! What a roller coaster! I'm sad to say, after 36 motivational posts, it is now officially over! :( Although the challenge is done, I will still post motivational posters on Instagram. I would like to thank all of the ladies (especially my Sweat Pink sisters who participated) for reading all of my daily posts. <3 Stay motivated!
