Athleta: New Year, New Style

It looks like Athleta has been trying to step up their game a bit! I have always been interested in Athleta, but I rarely end up purchasing anything. Mainly because their style is usually a little too "hippy" for me and the prices don't seem much cheaper than Lululemon....sometimes they are not cheaper at all!

I heard a lot of good buzz about their new line, and I went to investigate. It ended up being a giant failure...they closed earlier than Google said and I didn't get to do a try on report.

I did end up visiting the site, and here are some of my interests:

Chi Tank, $39

Made of "unstinkable" and $13 less than Lululemon's 105f Singlet (25% less). I'm curious about the "unstinkable" and it looks like a billowy top. You can also get plus sizes and longer lengths.

 Chaturanga Capri, $54

I really like the Catalina Green color. I tried on these a feel months ago in another color. They are soft and breathable....a little lighter weight than Lululemon's WUC. I thought these would be better than the WUC for hot yoga. Also 25% less than the WUC.

Criss Cross Hope Jacket, $108

I really like the texture of this jacket, but the fit would be really important. I would need to try this one in the store....with being the same cost of Lululemon's Forme jacket, it would have to be pretty amazing for me to jump ship.

Jaya Tank, $59

I really love this top...especially on this model.  The material lays nicely over the chest and there is a good color selection. I would be interested to see how it fits on the bottom. I wouldn't want a looser fit. 

 Metta Hoodie Sweater, $98

This hoodie/sweater is a stunner in the color "glass blue." I can easily see this as a great casual sweater for the weekend or to and from the gym. Their sweaters are at the same price point as most of Lululemon's (i.e. Pure Balance, Fleet Street). I do think Athleta carries more variety in their sweaters over Lululemon.

Olympus Sweater, $89

This sweater will be a future purchase for me! I love the Olympus sweater in Dress Blue Heather and the waffle print. It's one of my favorite Athleta items.

Run on Jacket, $118

This is one of the jackets I saw in the display (white). I really liked the stripes when I saw it up close....they were very subtle. I would be interested in trying on the white or black versions.

Spectrum Sweatshirt, $79

The Spectrum Sweatshirt was very pretty in Light Coral Sizzle Heather. It's made of French Terry and is $19 cheaper than other Luluelmon pieces like the Exhalation pullover (roughly 20% cheaper)

 Striped Elite Half Zip, $79

I also loved the Striped Elite Half Zip in White. It reminds me a lot of quite stripe. It is also $19 cheaper than half zip Lululemon tops like the Base Runner Half Zip. I like the stripes a lot.

Stripes Chaturanga Capri, $59

The Striped Chaturanga Capri looks like their version Lululemon's Parallel Strip WUC. I really like how the Chaturanga Capri and Pants feel and I like the grey-based stripes. At $13 less than Lululemon's WUC, they are about 18% cheaper.

If you are looking for deals cheaper than Lululemon, you have to pick and choose. Items like their crops are generally 20% less than Lululemons, but some of their sweaters, jackets, and tops can be just as much.

I do like the new designs. They still have a lot of "hippie" type items....if they keep improving the designs, I'm going to have to keep a closer eye on them.
