Athleta Store Visit - 1/11/14

A few days I posted a list of Athleta items I was lusting after.....so I went to Tyson's Corner to check them out. This never happens, but I actually tried on all of those items plus a few more!

There was some hits and misses, but I am MUCH more impressed with Athleta's new spring line. I went to Athleta back in September. I tried on a bunch of things that looked cute, but they were just so-so on me. Today was much different. I quickly snatched up all of the items I was interested in and there was so much I ran out of hands! They still had some old-lady hippy items (I wouldn't trust my relatives to shop for me unsupervised there), but there was a younger and trendier vibe with their newer items.

Chi Tank (Extra Long)

I grabbed this one in the long version, but they didn't have a lot of colors in stock. I initially thought I would like it, but not love it.....but I ended up loving it. The material was really soft and the fit was nice. It hugged my shape without feeling skin tight. It was was $42...same as Lululemon's CRB...but it was also made with anti-stink material.

Chaturanga Capri

I really loved the Chaturanga Capri...they were so soft and opaque. They weren't super compressive, but I loved how they felt. The price was really great too!

Criss Cross Hope Jacket

I was a little disappointed with the Criss Cross Hope jacket. The material was really soft, but the fit was a little frumpy. It is the same cost as a Lululemon Forme, and I didn't like it nearly as much.

Jaya Tank

The Jaya tank was nice. I liked the top part of the tank and the bottom was still fitted. Even though it is a pretty style...I liked it, but didn't love it.

Metta Hoodie

The Metta Hoodie was a little thin and boxy. I liked the color, but I would have liked to have the material be a bit thicker. I did not think this one was worth the price.

Olympus Sweater

The Olympus Sweater was simple, but I really liked it. I didn't end up buying it, but I might eventually get it. I really liked how they layered the thumb loops.

Run On Jacket

I liked the stripes on the Run On jacket, but didn't really care for the shape. Like one of the readers said, it looked a little boxy. I also felt like it was a little short.

Spectrum Sweatshirt

I really liked the Spectrum Sweatshirt. Athleta's french terry felt the same as Lululemon's fabric. My bra insert got a little tangled up with all of the trying on things, so the top looks a little bumpy. I really liked this one.

Striped Elite Half Zip

The Striped Elite Half Zip was another pleasant surprise. It was really soft and comfortable. The pattern did remind me a lot of Lululemon's coveted "Quiet Stripe." I liked that the stripes were softer...it will match a lot of bottoms.

Stripe Chaturanga Capri

The Stripe Chaturanga Capri looks just like Lululemon's Parallel Stripe Wunder Under crops. They did a good job in the back matching up the stripes. They are super soft and would be a great substitute if you missed Lululemon's version.

Zippy Jacket

I also tried on the Zippy Jacket. I really liked this one and the color. It was also really soft....I have been really impressed with Athleta's materials! They were all really nice.

Namaste Seamless Bra/Up-Tempo Stripe Seamless Bra

I know I keep saying how soft everything was, but wow...the Namaste Seamless bra was ridiculously comfy. It gave me complete coverage and didn't dig in at all. The straps were also pretty. I also though the Up-Tempo Stripe bra was nice too, but it didn't look as special.

I ended up dressy a little casual-comfortable today. I wore my heathered black Blissed Out jacket, nimbus groovy stripe CRB, skinny jeans, and Jack Purcell Converse shoes.

Overall, I was really impressed with Athleta. The materials were great and the sizes were all consistent. I wore XS in every top and S in every bra and crop. It was nice not to have to bring 2 of everything to get the sizing right.

The only thing I didn't care for was their organization. Their stock was more about the color placement than the type of item. I had to circle around the store many times to look for certain items in certain colors....it was a little bit annoying.  I would rather peruse all of the colors in one spot.

Like most of you know, their return policy is awesome. I didn't know that they stored your receipt in their system for 90 days if you paid with a credit card. It's kinda of nice to rip off the tags and not have to worry if I lose the receipt or not!

I did find out that my martial arts/combatives instructor certification qualified me for their instructor discount. It was really nice....I instantly got a 30% discount and can use it for up to $1000 worth of merchandise a year! They are already 15-20% cheaper than Lululemon in most items.....with a 30% discount on top of their normal prices will make them more enticing!

So here is what I got:

I got the Chatarunga Capri in Blueberry. I really loved the color and they are so soft and comfortable! $54 is a steal and I got an even bigger steal with my 30% discount!

I also got the Namaste bra. This bra was just too comfortable to pass up. I really liked how it gave me coverage without being really restrictive. I got this is grey black, but I was ecstatic to so many colors on their website! Might have to get some more colors eventually!

The Chi Tank was one of my favorites and I was not expecting it. The material is like wow-soft. I will definitely be getting some more colors later!

I ended up getting the Striped Elite Half Zip. I loved the subtle stripes.

My last purchase was the Spectrum Sweatshirt. I really loved how soft it is....it just might be softer than my Lululemon Exhalation pullover. Major "yay" lol.

It was a great shopping day! I got a pair of crops, bra, tank, half zip, and sweatshirt for $220 with my instructor discount. It would have been close to $400 at Lululemon. VERY pleased and I will be keeping an eye out on them in the future.

I'm still wearing my outfit now! It's too comfortable....I don't want to take it off!!!!
