So much to talk about tonight!
First of all....sending my prayers to those affected at the Navy Yard in DC. I work in the Pentagon, so I received several phone calls and emails from family, but we didn't skip a beat and work resumed as normal. Such a terrible thing to have happen many times over a short period. I had a friend stationed at the Navy Yard, but luckily he was ok.
Took the metro to Clarendon and there was a lot to look at in the store. They had a lot of the new items, but there were some I decided to pass on without trying on:
Urbanite Shirt and Henley
Tweed long and short softshell
Modern racerback (looked like a plain tank, not special)
First Base Tank
Here are some of the things I tried on, but didn't buy:
Scuba Hoodie in Slalom Stripe
Really cute hoodie.....I love the pattern. I already have a groovy stripe and a midnight iris.I would wear this more than the others, but I'm still holding out for that paisley inkwell scuba....especially since all of my scubas are greys and blacks.
Full Tilt LS in Plum
This was my first Rulu shirt that I tried on, and I can understand the hype. It's really soft. I liked the lace detail in the back. I would have considered purchasing it, but I didn't like the glaring reflective logo in the back. I wish they would do an inkwell/carbon logo for darker shirts.
Speed Shorts in Angel Wing and Slalom Stripe
Both of these patterns are super cute and they can be worn with a lot of colors. The angel wing (as you can see), runs really tiny. I can never really size down to a size 4 in the speeds, but a size 6 has NEVER felt too tight....too loose if anything. The angel wing ones clearly run small! The slalom stripe ones running a TINY bit small, but not enough for me to bump a size. I really liked the pattern of the slalom stripe ones, but they didn't fit perfectly and I just don't wear shorts that much these days
Bend and Flow tank in Cornflower
I was really excited to try on this tank when I saw photos today in the blogs! I'm always looking for workout tanks that can double as casual and exercise tops, and this one seemed to fit the mold! The top was really cute on, but I would have tried a larger size if I was going to buy it. It was a little too shiny for me. The center was luon, but the sides was a diamond mesh that has a sheen to it. It does make it more breathable, but it also makes it not as versatile for casual clothes. I try to buy things that have more than one purpose. If it doesn't, I need to literally be dreaming of that piece for me to justify buying it. Cute tank, but it wasn't a need for me.
Here are some things I tried on and bought:
Ebb to Studio Bras in Angel Wing and Heathered Black
I'm a size 6 in LLL bras....sometimes I can size down to a 4, but I definitely needed to size up on this bra. This bra was really comfy, but the size 6 cut in the back and the triangle inserts were REALLY see through and ripply.
I wanted basic sports bras, because I wear one grey one all the time and my others don't really get to be touched. I sized up to an 8 in the heathered black and it was perfect. It did not cut into me in the front and the back and the inserts did not show. It was so comfortable I didn't want to take it off.
I decided to try on the angel wing one more time, because I liked this bra so much. I came into the store dead set on buying the free to be bra in angel wing hyperstripe, but honestly it did not fit me well. The size 8 was MUCH better on the back. I knew the lining would probably show, but I never wear white bras without a shirt so that wasn't an issue for me. The only issue that bothered me was if the lining triangles would show through my tops at home. I decided to buy both colors anyways.....I figured if the lining showed on the angel wing one, I would just return it.
I tried the angel wing bra on with my aquamarine CRB because it is one of my lightest and sheer tanks I have....if its going to show through the tank, it would on this tank....so here it is.
The lining didn't show through at all. I tried it again with a white swiftly and I was happy. These bras were extremely comfy....they are going to get a ton of wear.
Out of the store lighting and back to the house. I tried them with my Pique Skinny Wills with the waist up....I always wear them rolled down. I don't think the high waist is really for me, unless I'm at like an inversion yoga clinic.
Ebb to Street tank in Cornflower
So I was disappointed with the previous tank I tried on, but fell in love with this one. I really love the color and the material is super soft. With the exception of like one built in bra tank, I wear a size 4. The size 4 fit well in the top, but the bottom is really tight and narrow. Curvier girls with hips should really try this on in the store. A size 6 worked for me....it was a little looser in the top, but I could feel it a little snug in the bottom. Not enough to size up or walk away, but if I was any curvier on the bottom it wouldn't have worked.
Fly Away Tamer Headband in Angel Wing Hyperstripe
I also bought this one. I have a white bang buster, but it is ginormous on me. The only other one I wear is my soot light fly away tamer. This one will get a lot of wear because it is a great basic.
Despite the poor styling in the photo, I wanted to buy this headband too. They had it in the store, but online buys should buy with caution....it has NO rubber grips on the bottom side. I didn't want to buy a headband that wouldn't stay put....especially since I wouldn't be able to return a $16 headband.
Well that's all for now. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay up for the upload. I'm still pretty sick. I might set my alarm, but I'm not going to wait 2-3 hours for them to upload the products....if it is meant to be, its meant to be!
What did you guys think of this weeks upload? Anyone else love the Ebb to Studio bras and tanks like I did?
