Golfshot App and 9 Holes at East Potomac (and blog sale update)

Had a great day on the course today!  I had an hour golf lesson at noon and then I played 9 holes at 2.

It was pretty cool this morning so I wore my white Nike (outlet) dryfit shirt, LLL black swan studio pants, soot light Forme jacket, nimbus Classy Cap, and Adidas white golf shoes.

I was really excited to try my new app GolfShot. Its a GPS for your phone. I was looking at golf GPS systems, but at $150+ for watches and $300+ for handhelds....they  are pretty pricey.

I was at Golfsmith and I usually get ignored in big box golf stores. I guess most of the older employees think I'm just shopping for my spouse or not that serious about golf...so they usually don't help me.

Well there was a younger guy that was talking to me about the different GPS systems and he was nice enough to tell me about an app he has on his phone called Golfshot.

Now before any Golfsmith employees get in a frenzie....I just bought REALLY nice irons and a driver from them a month ago. Yes, they just lost a potential $300 sale, but I appreciated his honesty so much I will continue to only go to Golfsmith for future golf purchases.

So here is what it looks like:

You can see your previously saved score cards by date and location.
You can also see and pick nearby facilities.

You pick your course and if you are playing 9 holes or 18.

All of the golfers can play off of one app and you can pick your type of play.

Now for the fun part....you see your true distances from the front or the back of the green. There's also an aerial shot, but I forgot to include. Scores are logged per player.

Type of clubs are logged and you see your stats for each hole.

I thought it was really cute that it asked you if you wanted a group photo at the end of your round. Something I wouldn't have though about when I was out with friends, but I would have used this option!

Here's what your card looks like after your done (no laughing at my scores!), and it gives you an option to share it on twitter or facebook!.

With your score cards saved, it gives you various stats on your performance!

This is a really great app. They have really thought of everything. I don't think I'm ever going to use a paper scorecard again! I have been using a journal to log my scores, but I think this is definitely going to take its place. There were only two downfalls....if it is really bright and you are walking the course, it can be hard to see. I might put an anti-glare on my iphone in the summer. The other downfall is I like to keep notes on my holes. This might be somewhere in the app, so I need to play around with it

Overall, for $30 iphone app...it may seem pricey...but for the features and compared to a $150-300 device is really a steal! It was so much fun to use this app!

Blog Sale Update: I'm sorting through my stuff after I post this....Hoping to start posting tonight!
